Audrey Payne’s autobiographical account is a response to life full of new places and people. She writes with candour and a wry humour as she describes an ordinary life. From her beginnings in Scotland to her early years in Kenya during the Mau Mau uprising and onto experiences cycling around Europe and then careers in horticulture as well as nursing in Kenya, the Kimberley and in Papua New Guinea, Audrey’s life is definitely not so ordinary.
