Schools, community groups, businesses and everyone in between are now invited to register their floats for this year’s Christmas Festival and Pageant.

The pageant theme this year is Sparkle, and pageant entrants are encouraged to shine brightly with glistening or shimmering glitter and light displays to showcase their floats and displays as they parade along York Street.

Festivities for this year’s Christmas celebrations will kick off on Friday 3 December with Christmas Twilight Markets from 4pm to 9pm in the Town Square and Alison Hartman Gardens.

The Christmas Twilight Markets continue on Saturday 4 December from 3pm, with the City of Albany Christmas Pageant commencing from 6pm along York Street.

Executive Director Community Services Nathan Watson said the Christmas pageant was a wonderful opportunity to come together to celebrate the Albany community.

“We know how much our community enjoy getting involved with the Christmas Pageant,” he said.

“It’s great to see so many community groups and local businesses take pride in participating in this community event and bringing some colourful and entertaining displays to the Christmas festival.”

The City’s Art and Culture team are also seeking expressions of interest from local artists to partner with schools to create a parade entry or installation piece for the Creative Christmas Pageant Program.

Successful applicants will be contracted to facilitate workshops with school groups to explore the theme of Sparkle for pageant entries.

Float registrations are open until November 12 and Creative Christmas Pageant Program registration are open until Friday 3 September.

Registration forms can be downloaded from www.cityofalbanyevents.com/christmas-festival-and-pageant.
