The talent of Albany’s youth will be celebrated during the annual City of Albany Youth Week program this month.

Inspired by the Youth Week 2023 theme of Becoming: with others we dream, the City’s festivities will highlight the abilities of Albany’s youth who are taking control of planning and delivering the week’s events.

Inflata-Day will kick off the fun on Friday, April 14 when it fills Albany Leisure and Aquatic Centre with a range of bouncing amusements for all to enjoy. It will feature an inflatable basketball court, 23-metre-long bouncy obstacle course, and ice cream from the café to share with friends.

Southern Edge Arts will wow everyone with their circus performances while 16-year-old DJ ARRYTH curates the beats.

On Thursday, April 20, teams are invited to put their minds to the test for five rounds of action-packed trivia at the Youth Week Quiz Night, with exciting prizes for the winning team and best dressed participant.

With food and live music by local school band Komorebi, the Youth Week Quiz Night is a fun social event for local 10 to 18-year-olds.

Rounding out the trio of events is the Bazaarium Youth Markets at Albany Town Hall on Saturday and Sunday, April 22-23.

30 youth-aged stallholders will display their wares across the weekend selling an assortment of handmade items such as jewellery, artwork, baked goods, candles, woodwork, and more.

Community Development Coordinator Tammy Flett said Youth Week is a great opportunity for Albany to celebrate and acknowledge young people in the community.

“We have put together a diverse program, using as many young artists and professionals as possible to showcase their talents,” she said.

“By ensuring we engage as many young people as we can in the delivery of our events, we can create an environment where our youth feel valued and appreciated.”

The City of Albany’s Youth Week program is proudly supported by Rio Tinto and the Department of Communities.
