Get Online Week - AI, VR, & AR Explained

Monday 14th October 2024

We believe everyone deserves the opportunity to safely participate in our digital world and no one should be left behind. Get Online Week helps people to improve their digital skills through fun, local community events.

This year the Albany Public Library is hosting a Get Online Week event aimed at demystifying some emerging technologies and their applications. Artificial intelligence, virtual reality and augmented reality are gaining traction and with any new technology, it can be hard to understand what it all means. This session aims to provide explanations, demonstrations and hands-on learning to showcase the potential behind these rising trends. Revolutionise your to-do list, see cultural landmarks in a whole new way and immerse yourself in a virtual holiday from the comfort of the library.

We will cover:
  • What is AI and how can I use it?
  • What can I do with VR?
  • What can AR be used for?
  • What do I need to get started?
  • How can I stay safe when using these technologies?
