Our process for item requests has changed.
From 1 July 2023, all public libraries are required to use Australia Post for inter-library loan delivery.
From 19 June, Albany Library will commence a 3-month trial of a new process, including:
-
Limit of 2 requests per person at any one time (includes purchase and inter-library loan requests)
-
Limit of 10 reservations per person at any one time (includes all types of reservations)
-
Uncollected reservations will result in being unable to reserve any item for 2 months and prevent self-service at the kiosks.
When a request for an item is submitted, staff will:
-
Search the local and consortium-wide catalogue
-
Search for available eResources
-
When an item is not available, a purchase request will be submitted for consideration by our Librarians
Any items not purchased (i.e. prohibitive cost, out of print, not available, unsuitable for collection according to Collection Management Policy) will be processed as an inter-library loan
-
Updates on the status of requests will be communicated to the patron at each stage of the process.
