Albany Public Library is thrilled to announce its participation in the third annual Summer Reading Quest, urging the entire community to dive into a literary adventure this summer.
Summer Reading Quest is a program designed to captivate students during the school holidays, fostering reading habits and providing both eager and hesitant readers with a sense of achievement.
The program includes a side quest on the back of the reading log, featuring literacy activities that seamlessly integrate reading into daily life, encouraging readers to venture outdoors, stay active, and unleash their creativity.
For parents with young readers under 5, the Summer Steps card offers a tailored experience with daily pre-literacy activities that promote early childhood development.
Residents enjoy complimentary access to the Beanstack App and website, facilitating the logging of their child's reading progress during the holidays.
Youth Services Librarian Dora Adeline expressed her excitement about delivering the Summer Reading Quest at the Library.
“Summer Reading Quest caters to all types of readers—reluctant, avid, or in between,” she said.
“The Summer Reading Quest provides a fantastic opportunity for students to continue building on literacy skills developed throughout the year and a chance to win amazing prizes.
"We recognise that the best way to ensure the hard work during the school year continues and to prevent learning loss over the long break is to provide students with engaging and stimulating reading activities”.
Every submitted reading log and Summer Steps card automatically enters participants into the major state prize draw.
Readers have the freedom to choose their own adventure this summer at Albany Public Library.
