The City of Albany is proud to partner with the WA Tree Festival to celebrate trees and their many important benefits to the environment and our community.
From April 6 to May 5, residents and visitors alike are invited to immerse themselves in a diverse range of events and activities aimed at inspiring a deeper connection to our natural spaces.
During the school holidays, kids can embark on a guided story walk, augmented reality challenges, bush magic art workshops or unfurl their creativity at the Albany Public Library’s LEGO Brick Treehouse Showcase.
The Albany Public Library is again hosting an engaging program for adults including documentary and movie screenings, providing poignant insights into environmental conservation and stewardship.
Guest speakers will share their expertise and passion, offering valuable perspectives on sustainability and the importance of trees and green spaces in our urban environment. Other events include a nature inspired poetry evening and drawing workshops.
Sure to be a festival highlight, participants can attend a guided spotlighting walk to search the canopy for the critically endangered Western Ringtail Possum.
Attendees will be able to take part in Citizen Science by learning how to spot possums and record sightings in the Annual Western Ringtail Possum Tally.
City of Albany Manager Engineering and Sustainability Ruth March emphasised the importance of the collective work behind the WA Tree Festival.
"The WA Tree Festival represents a collaborative effort between the City of Albany and community members to celebrate the beauty and diversity of our environment,” she said.
“By coming together in celebration and learning, we can cultivate a shared sense of responsibility towards protecting and preserving our environment for future generations.”
